IThere is growing dissatisfaction with Federal Family Minister Lisa Paus in the SPD parliamentary group in the Bundestag. The reason is the Green politician's obvious lack of interest in the topic of sexual violence and how to deal with it. “We agreed in the coalition agreement to pay more attention to the issue and to strengthen state institutions,” says a letter that the acting chairman of the Bundestag Interior Committee, Lars Castellucci, sent to the minister today and which the FAZ is available. “We are still waiting for an initiative from you.”

In fact, in its coalition agreement of December 2021, the traffic light government agreed on many projects that were to be implemented under the leadership or significant participation of the Family Ministry, which fell to the Greens. The spectrum ranged from basic child security to a so-called self-determination law to a legal anchoring of the Office of the Federal Government's Independent Commissioner for Issues of Child Sexual Abuse (UBSKM) as well as an individual right to come to terms with it. In contrast to the first-mentioned projects, which have long been in the parliamentary process or have already passed the Bundestag, not even a draft bill has been sent to the MPs, although a first version was completed in April last year. Time is running out, says Castellucci, and not just in churches: “Those affected and perpetrators die, acts become statute-barred, files disappear.”
