What letter follows C in the alphabet?
Ralf Rangnick says so FC Bayern off, so the search for a coach continues. The German record champions concede one basket after another. The casting of Thomas Tuchel's successor is increasingly embarrassing.
Xabi Alonso prefers to stay at Bayer Leverkusen, Julian Nagelsmann prefers him DFB And Ralf Rangnick would also prefer to remain Austria's national coach. And if, according to Uli Hoeneß, Ösi's coach was only the third option, the next candidate will be classified as “solution D”.
Nobody wants to go to FC Bayern
Why doesn't anyone want to go to Bayern? FCB is one of the biggest clubs in the world, in a beautiful, financially stable city, without dubious and windy owners and, in sporting terms, the Champions League semi-finals still show great potential. A model club. At least it always was.
Reputation is crumbling. The Club has long ceased to be a paradise for coaches. Carlo Ancelotti, Niko Kovac, Hansi Flick, Julian Nagelsmann and Thomas Tuchel can sing a song about it. They all left (or in Tuchel's case are leaving) with their reputations permanently damaged.
And no coach in Munich can work calmly and build something. The media is close to the club, almost all information is leaked and immediately hotly discussed. “It's intense. But I don't think it's FC Hollywood,” Max Eberl said of the coaching search at the weekend. “It is a club that is alive and that seems to interest the entire nation. It seems like every two hours there is talk, talk, comments and discussions about the search for a coach.”
Hoeneß continues to cause discomfort
But there is also a lot of discussion within the club. The old and powerful bosses Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeneß are still very involved. The latter caused a stir again on Friday with a controversial appearance, when he verbally threw former coach Tuchel in front of the bus and also did not sell the supposed solution desired by Rangnick at a high price. The statements are said to have irritated him quite a bit.
Perhaps the Hoeneß scandal showed him again what he would do to himself in Munich. The honorary president later defended Tuchel-Watschn against the “Kicker” and declared that he was “determined to make my opinion clearer again.” Deterrence par excellence.
In this chaos one can only feel sorry for the new sporting director Max Eberl. Tuchel was sacked before taking office in March, now he is allowed to eat the soup and must also play the role of mediator.
Bayern's next coach is solution D
No matter who you present as Bayern's next coach, he will be considered solution D. Do a world-class coach like Zinedine Zidane or aspiring young coaches like Roberto de Zerbi want to do this?
Ultimately, Eberl has only one option left to put an end to the coaching problem in a dignified manner: a clearly defined transition coach like Hansi Flick or Louis van Gaal. Both would be a quick alternative that would bring much-needed calm and authority. And they both know the club and have nothing to lose. The following summer they could hand the heavy scepter to Jürgen Klopp or Xabi Alonso. A solution!
