Dem British King Charles III. Queen Camilla says she is doing “extremely well” given the circumstances. The 76-year-old made the remarks Thursday night in her first public appearance since her husband's cancer diagnosis was announced in Salisbury, southern England, British news agency PA reported.

Camilla attended a musical event celebrating the work of charities at Salisbury Cathedral in the evening. Asked about the condition of the 75-year-old monarch, he said, according to PA: “He is doing very well under the circumstances, he is very touched by all the letters and messages he has received from all over – it is very encouraging.”

The palace announced on Monday that Charles was suffering from cancer. It is not known what type of cancer it is, except that it is not believed to be prostate cancer. Charles is said to have traveled with Camilla to his Sandringham estate in Norfolk, eastern England, on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said the monarch's cancer was detected early. On Wednesday, Charles Sunak held his weekly audience by phone, according to Sunak's office. According to British media, the king and the head of government are to meet again in person within two weeks.
