dGerman cycling hopeful Lennard Kämna is training Tenerife He was involved in a traffic accident and is in the hospital for further tests. This was announced on Wednesday by his German team Bora Hansgrohe. It is not yet known whether the 27-year-old from Bremen was seriously injured.
According to the newspaper “Bild”, the injuries are serious, but there is no danger to life. Team boss Ralph Denk said: “The accident was obviously not his fault. He collided with a car, according to my information it occurred while he was turning.”
More information about Kämna's health and the evolution of the accident will be available on Thursday. Denk wanted to talk to the Spanish police first.
Kämna, who has already won stages on the three big circuits Tour de France, Giro d'Italia and Vuelta, is currently in training camp mainly preparing for his planned start in the Tour of Italy.
The former junior world champion wants to compete in the general classification of the Giro starting May 4 and aims to be among the top ten. He was last in action in early March on the Tirreno-Adriatico tour, where he finished eighth overall. His next race was supposed to be the Tour of the Alps (April 15-19).
